Bright Ideas On Wearing Masculine Fabrics The Feminine Way II

Moving on!

  • Pinstripe twill with studded white

5. A ‘mininmalist space’ prompted white and grey worn with a twist. Pinteripe skirt, but with drape details and a plain white shirt but, with studded collar, makes for more interesting neutrals. Pretty it up with a printed scarf and cinnamon brown wedged pumps for a clean finish.

  • Glen Plaid with Lace

6. Think “flowers on balcony” in an urbanscape of buildings and stone facades. That’s how this charcoal grey and ivory work. Floral shoes are an unexpected way to brighten up a formal look. An oversized brooch breaks up the monotony of the checked suit. (Doesn’t always have to be pants- can be shorts, skirt, cullotes)

    • Prince Of Wales Check with Barocco Print

    7. A “Vientin Piazza” inspired barocco print and checks combo, come together in a romantic blush pink blouse with trailing chains and ribbons offset by polka dot shoes and Art Deco style jewels.

Details that add that mademoiselle flair

Edge Over Ordinary – Even if you wear white or grey, look for special tailoring and cut of garment.

Romantic Fabrics– Lace, chiffon, silk are a femme fatale factor that will dab out that masculine check or stripe. It’s the play of sheer over heavy/matte fabric that does the trick

Garment Details – Tops with ruffles, peterman collars, sashed ribbon ties, or even embroidery work like magic to contrast structured pants & skirts.

Pattern Play – yes,  even with shoes, to play off the geometric weaves. Polka dots, ornamental swirls, paisley prints as well as florals, all enhance femininity.

Accessories – Choose the right Jewels, brooches and scarves for added madamoiselle flair

    Some more selfies
So there you have it. It’s almost got that vintage glamour feel of the working women in the 40’s who wore tailored silhouettes but with such poise and grace. All I’ve done is, jazz it up with today’s wardrobe, contemporary colours and modern pattern play. This style file has enough ideas to try, should you reach into your closet for that grey pencil skirt! You won’t look at your plaid, pinstripes or tweed the same way again. Shine on the remainder of the winter ladies!

Also, thank you, thank you for all your amazing love and support on Instagram. It’s been so lovely to read your compliments and comments on on my outfits styles, that it’s prompted me to change the way I write my blog. I hope my love for dressing and experimentation with colour, prints and textures inspires you to try something new. Let me know how you got on!
