When In Las Vegas – Glam Outfit Ideas

Surreal. Out of this world. Bizarre. Twilight zone. Indulgent and over the top was my experience of what truly lives up to its name “Sin City” I’m not a gambler so clearly I was in the wrong place. But I happen to be here and the adventures of Las Vegas were calling.

I couldn’t complain about the weather. It was a sizzling 99° and I simmered comfortably in the heat, auto acclimatized, from the tropics I was raised in. The Hard Rock Hotel, my plush accommodation, is a masterpiece for any music lover. It’s walls are decked with infamous guitars, and rare poignant portraits of music legends. Like all hotels in Las Vegas, super size is deceptive, and before you know it, you’ve covered 2 miles and that’s just your hotel. So, a schedule certainly helps and I planned my week armed with the Las Vegas Hotel Guide.

Since I happen to be there as my husband’s companion, let me start with the glam nights. Parties and shows. I was so glad to be in a place where, there are truly no rules to dressing or undressing for that matter. This one time, my eyes popped as I gawked at a man of exquisite physique, pasted on in just a pair of silver shorts, hugging every inch of his glutes with matching boots, just hanging out in the line up at the concierge. I knew then I could wear all the bright colours, prints and sequin to my hearts content, refreshing from Vancity style of casual minimalism, conservative of colours which I am sort of getting use to. At about 5% so far. Meanwhile, here’s what I wore, full of colour and panache with similar spin off  ensembles.

1. MINT Jumpsuit for a night at Cirque de Soliel

More like mint. Party on with pastels. Try with Maxi, dress, jumpsuit, romper, whatever’s your fancy! ??

• Bag- Shiny. Hologram or metallic or clear clutch.
• Shoes – Girly floral pumps, pointed toe sling backs or modern mules.
• Jewels – vintage flair to deck the neckline.
• Silhouette – tailored for body flattery. 

2.  PRINTED PANTS. Flamboyant and colourful work best!

• Top – Here a mesh blouse . You can go with crisp texture of crochet, lace, laser cut! 
• Shoes – Interesting wedges in rope, perspex or sparkle.
• Jewels – Summery turquoise 
• Pants – wide leg, slim tapered, high waisted.

3. SEQUINS. Wore this gorgeous sorbet spearmint dress for a corporate party. Add textures to play on shine.

• Shoes- Suede and colour for textural contrast.
• Dress details – Assymetrical and tulip hemline. You can go for a shift dress, dipped hemline or off shoulder style with bell cuff details.
• Bag- Two tone shimmer bag.

4. BLACK  I wore an embroidered dress of feminine tailoring with glamour and quirk.

• Jewels – Large cabochon gem studded bling.
• Bag – Quirky emoji sling. You can accessorize with one of those fun ‘lips’ or anything with humor.
• Dress Style – Black with drama, go for plush fabrics like silk or velvet with cutwork, beadwork or threadwork.
